Google’s Android explained

post2Internet giant Google revealed its new mobile platform this month. It’s the latest attempt to create a ‘free’ software environment for mobile phones and is based on the operating system Linux. The platform is known as Android and Google’s aim is to reach a point where operating system software doesn’t come from a single vendor – like Symbian – and isn’t under the control of a single company – like Java is with Sun. Google’s Android platform launches

post1Google today announced its new mobile platform, and in the process disappointed those keen to hear details about the highly anticipated Google Phone, or gPhone.

T-Mobile, HTC, Qualcomm and Motorola have all been involved with Google on the development of the Android platform through the Open Handset Alliance. Read more…
