Google improves mobile search service

post6Google’s new search service for mobile phones has just been launched, which the company says will make ‘Googling’ on a phone faster and more intuitive than ever before.

The internet giant says the service will give mobile consumers results that better fit what they’re looking for because they won’t have to sift through both mobile and regular web results or specify their search type, as they were obliged to before. Read more…

Yahoo Go open for third party developers

post5Yahoo’s mobile application, Yahoo Go, has been opened up to third party developers. Already MTV, eBay and MySpace have got in on the act and created widgets for the Yahoo Go 3.0 Widget Gallery. Yahoo has high hopes in getting more content owners excited, the company’s CEO Jerry Yang announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week. Read more…

Google-phone rumours as Android Challenge opens

post4 A software design competition for the Google-led Android platform opened last week and the first mobile ‘Google’ handset took a step closer to becoming a reality.

The Android Developer Challenge opened for entries on Friday, and software developers are being encouraged to develop applications for use by members of the Open Handset Alliance. Read more…
