Rumours are rife that the latest Android mobile phones will be released in January. It is expected that the next generation handset will be named the G2, and will include a whole host of improvements that are unavailable on the G1. The new phone will include MMS and video facilities.

T-Mobile has announced plans to distribute its G1 Google Android phone through independent retailers from early 2009. After an initial sales spike shortly after the handset’s release, it is understood that sales are now performing modestly.
Sony Ericsson has talked openly about its intentions of producing a phone based on the Android platform. By signing up to the Open Handset Alliance, Sony Ericsson will be privy to Google’s open Android application platform as seen on T-Mobile’s G1. Read more…
